Information >> Biography
He's every girl's dream. Every girl would want to be with him, every girl at least thinks of him more than once each day. He's Nick Carter and here's his story.
| Making of a Boy |
| Nickolas Gene Carter was born on January 28th, 1980, the eldest of the Carter bunch. He was an active child and hid his talent for many years, until one day, his mother, Mrs. Jane Carter respectively, found him singing outside their backyard behind a tree at the wee age of seven years old. She was blown away by his talent, and off to singing lessons this little boy went.
As he grew, at the age of 10, he would enter talent competitions, perform, and form his own group with a bunch of girl dancers doing flips behind him. But that just wasn't enough. He was even offered a spot in The New Mickey Mouse Club, but turned it down to join Alexander James McLean in a singing group in 1992. |

| Talented & Unknown |
| Howard Dorough joined Nick and "A.J" in the singing group. Nick was only 13, A.J. was 16, Howard "Howie" was only 19. It took them a while, but they found Kevin Richardson, who at that time was 20. He recommended his cousin, Brian Littrell and the Backstreet Boys began.
It was when Nick was at the age of 14 when the Backstreet Boys were signed to Louis Pearlman, who was scouting for boy groups to be the next New Kids On The Block. The Backstreet Boys recorded their debut album in Europe and it topped the charts the moment it came out in Europe. Yes, they were very big in Europe, but what about the U.S.? They were unknown here, and they were determined to make it here. They released their single here in the U.S., "We've Got It Goin' On", and it reached 64 on the charts then sank. |
| Happiness, Hope and Tears (Well, not really) |
| They didn't give up. Well, of course they wouldn't! They had hope, and while the record company, BMG wanted them to release "If You Want It To Be Good Girl (Get Yourself A Bad Boy)" but let A.J or Brian take over the lead vocals. Nick's voice was going through a phase where his voice was changing, and the recording company didn't like it. If you watch We've Got It Goin' On, you can see Nick singing along to the song--but in the song itself, the company didn't even let him sing! Talk about cruel! But Nick's voice finally matured, and when BMG heard it, they wanted him to sing the lead for "Quit Playing Games With My Heart" instead of Brian singing the whole song. Brian didn't care; he sings so many of the other songs that it didn't really matter to him!
When Quit Playing Games came out, stardom was certainly sweet to the Backstreet Boys. The second album they released in Europe was called "Backstreet's Back" with the same covers as the U.S version and everything, but they changed it to just "Backstreet Boys" since the U.S didn't even know who the Backstreet Boys were! They conquered the U.S.
